Brett Oláh for Futuroma
On the occasion of International Roma Day, the Roma for the World collection received a whole new dimension – thanks to visual artist and finalist of Young Roma Talents 2024/25, Brett Oláh.
This year’s celebration, organized by Ara Art, was also a call to reflect on the future. FUTUROMA is a concept that brings a bold vision of a world where Romani culture doesn’t stand on the margins but is a solid part of society.
This is how the collaboration between The Rose from Concrete, Footshop, Ara Art and Brett Oláh was born. The result? A limited collection of t-shirts that speak, inspire, and connect.
Each piece is unique, and Brett describes his work in his own words:
“What God gives, will be. This design is not just a visual expression, but a reflection of the reality in which many Roma live – a constant struggle with lack of resources, but also endless creativity and determination to create even in adverse conditions. Instead of professional textile paints, I deliberately used ordinary cleaning products. This unconventional approach is not only a technique, but a symbol – a reminder that when society denies us access to the tools we need to grow, we don’t look for excuses, we look for new ways.”
“The t-shirts become a metaphor for the lives of many Roma – improvisation as a necessity, transforming the ordinary into the exceptional, a constant fight against limitations that are not only material but systemic. This design is not just about aesthetics, but about determination, creativity, and the strength of spirit that refuses to be defined by lack, and instead by the desire to create and move forward.”
Brett is a young, talented creative focused on painting, design, and visual arts. He is one of the selected talents of the Young Roma Talents project under the patronage of the The Rose from Concrete foundation. The t-shirts from the collection were part of the ceremonial gala evening organized by Ara Art to mark the celebrations of International Roma Day 2025.
